SPOONER – Recently, 938 shoe-box gifts were collected for Operation Christmas Child at the Spooner area relay station for this Christmas season.

The boxes were loaded onto pallets by volunteers, who happened to be mainly area children, and transported to the Minneapolis collection-processing center by TSU of Shell Lake, which donated the driver and the truck.  The gift-filled boxes will then travel to India or Zambia this year, where they will be hand delivered by volunteers on that side of the globe.  The goal was to collect more than 500,000 gifts in Minneapolis and 8.2 million worldwide this Christmas season.

Operation Christmas Child is the world’s largest organized Christmas project of its kind, but it also remains very unique and personal.  One box being packed by one person to be hand delivered to one child living in a desperate situation somewhere in the world.
